Job Description

This Mechanical Engineer will join our new southern California office located in Los Alamitos. This role is an integral part of a team supporting multiple IGI office locations and dedicated to the design and creation of IGI solutions throughout the country.

We use SOLIDWORKS and all its capabilities. Our design intent fully utilizes SOLIDWORKS derived and equation based modeling.

We seek individuals with technical aptitude and a great attitude. Ideal candidates will include those with relevant experience in structural design, architectural design, and large scale audio visual related design solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

• Extensive use of SOLIDWORKS to design mechanical structures
• Design of engineering layouts (and some facility design) within customer facilities
• Calculate optical pathways (will train)
• Develop fabrication and installation drawings
• Cross functional team representative for mechanical/optical design and fabrication
• Willing to learn the very unique methodology required

Qualifications

• Experienced SolidWorks user (understands parametric modeling and can create models from scratch)
  • Ability to adapt to IGI SolidWorks methodology and design standards
• Strong mechanical design skills (past experience in mechanical engineering/design)
  • Ability to adapt to IGI mechanical methodology and design standards
• Full life cycle product and/or structure development
• Strong communication skills and ability to convey designs to customer
• Degree or certification in mechanical engineering, industrial design, structural engineering, or mechanical design a plus
• PE is a strong plus
• Architectural / structural engineering experience is a plus
• Experience with structural framing is a plus
